Work on the spring laying of new bushes of vineyards began in Dagestan, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan informs. According to information on March 23 this year, the area of the bookmarks was over 130 hectares.
In the spring of this year it is planned to lay 520 hectares. In total in 2017, the planned laying of more than 1500 hectares of new bushes.
According to the program of development of viticulture and winemaking industry for the period from 2017 to 2020 in Dagestan, it is planned to lay new “amber” bushes on an area of not less than 1500 thousand hectares annually. For this, at least 3 million certified grafted seedlings are needed annually. Thus, until 2020, the total volume of seedlings will be at least 12 million pieces.
The grafted planting material is imported to the republic from the Krasnodar Territory, the Rostov Region and other regions of Russia, as well as from outside the country.
In this regard, it was decided to build in Dagestan own nursery complex for the production of grafted grapes. The source stressed that the implementation of this project is a strategic task and is included in the action plan of the priority development project of the Republic of Dagestan “An Effective Agro-Industrial Complex”.
It should be noted that special attention is paid to the development of viticulture in Dagestan. For several years now, due to the activities carried out within the framework of the priority project, the region is increasing production. So, following the results of 2016 in Dagestan it was possible to obtain a record harvest over the last decades of the vine – about 149 thousand tons. The best results were shown by the winemakers of the Derbent district, where the gross production was 45.2 thousand tons, Kayakent – 30.5 thousand tons, and Magaramkent – 13.1 thousand tons.
